The Institute on the Politics of Inequality, Race and Ethnicity at Stanford invites you to the May 7 meeting of PRIEC, the Politics of Race, Immigration and Ethnicity Consortium (http://priec.org). The meeting will be held on the campus at Stanford University. InsPIRES is a unit of the Center for Comparative Studies in Race and Ethnicity, and the event is co-hosted by Gary Segura (Political Science) and Tomas Jimenez (Sociology). Some financial support is available for travel and hotel to graduate student presenters, and to others on an as-needed and limited basis.

We seek submissions from political scientists, sociologists, and cognate disciplines, at the professor or graduate student level. We are interested in folks doing new work on the political and social condition of marginalized groups, with particular focus on immigration, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, sectarian identity, and social class. The deadline for submission is April 5, 2010.

The event will begin late morning/noon hour (start time depending on demand) and continue through the late afternoon, and will conclude with a celebratory dinner at my home. Details of location on campus and schedule to follow. The Stanford Campus is approximately equidistant between the San Francisco and San Jose airports, and a block of rooms has been set aside at the Stanford Terrace Inn (details below). We look forward to seeing you all in Palo Alto this May.

All the best,
Gary Segura
