Race and Ethnic Politics
The Department of Political Science (http://www-polisci.tamu.edu) is growing rapidly and has approval to fill up to seven positions this year, including two in Race and Ethnic Politics. We are especially interested in candidates with research interests in African American Politics and Latino Politics, although candidates studying comparative ethnic conflict are also of interest. We anticipate filling both positions at the level of assistant professor, but there is the possibility of a more-senior appointment for well-qualified applicants. The positions continue an on-going initiative bolstering the Department’s existing strengths in race and politics. The Department seeks individuals with strong theoretical interests, strong methodological skills, and a substantive focus on Race and Ethnic Politics. The starting date for the position is Fall 2010; a completed Ph.D. is preferred.
Applicants should send a letter of interest (outlining the research agenda), three letters of reference, a curriculum vitae, graduate school transcripts, any available teaching evaluations, and a writing sample. We are especially interested in candidates who would increase the Department’s gender, racial and ethnic diversity. We are also interested in candidates who can bridge across subfields of political science. Review of applications begins on October 1 and will continue until the position is filled. Texas A&M is an AA/EEO university, is deeply committed to diversity, and responds to the needs of dual-career couples. Please send application materials to: James R. Rogers, Head, Department of Political Science, Texas A&M University, 4348 TAMU, College Station, TX 77843-4348
